To begin with, in Mangalore a day after 23-year-old Faizal was murdered in Surathkal municipality of Dakshina Kannada district, the CCTV footage of the horrendous crime was circulated by the police personnel. The killing has contributed to the apprehension in the area that has been on the brink since Bharatiya Janata Party youth annexe leader Praveen Nettaru was massassinated three days ago in Bellare.
Meanwhile, in the CCTV videotape that was evaluated by HT, a man in a white shirt sprinting out of a garments outlet. Seconds after that the sufferer Faizal is seen sprinting out as well. He is then pursued by a mass of men, who ambuscade him inside the shop. They then draw bowie knives out and hack Faizal to death even as dummies outside the shop fall around them.
Tension continues in Mangalore
Police retorted that the accused stood by outside the outlet for nearly 30 minutes before ambushing Faizal. On Friday, hundreds took part in Faizal’s funeral procession in Surathkal, which was organized after the police handed over his body to the family members. Apprehension persuaded in Muslim-populated areas of Surathkal.
Meanwhile, Chief minister Basavaraj Bommai said the probe into all three murders recorded in Dakshina Kannada would be given equal scrutiny and dedication. “While returning, I discovered that there was another assassination. I have got all the particulars. I have commanded the ADGP law and ordered to stay there and see to it that firm action is taken. For us, all cases are equal we will treat all murders similarly. We will ensure strict action in all three cases,” he retorted.
Security expanded in the district
Subsequently, after Faizal’s assassination, police have fastened exorbitant orders under Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure in Surathkal, Mulki, Bajpe and Panambur until 6 am on Saturday. A holiday has been announced for educational establishments under the four police base camp limits and liquor stores were shut. Large convocations have been prohibited in Mangaluru till Saturday morning. Security has been expanded in Dakshina Kannada district as well as neighbouring Udupi, police retorted.
