On suspicion of spying on high executives of Indian government agencies and Ministries, a Chinese woman has been detained in Delhi. The accused was detained by a Special Cell team from the Delhi Police. Arrested on the grounds that she may have given China classified information.
A 44-year-old woman named Chai Rau has been accused of staying in Delhi for the past two years. All the while concealing her name and nationality as claimed by a police official. She was found to have a Nepalese passport and a citizenship certificate issued by the Nepalese government. The photograph of the woman who was arrested is attached to a certificate that was issued in Dolma Lama’s name.
Results of the initial investigation
According to a police investigation, the Chinese woman had previously traveled to India. This was using a Chinese passport on November 16, 2019. She entered Nepal at the Raniganj border crossing in Bihar on January 25, 2020. This was after spending almost three months in the nation.
She worked with several local agents while she was in Nepal to prepare her false Nepali documents. She returned to India as a citizen of Nepal after obtaining her birth certificate and a passport in that country under the name Dolma Lama.
The links with China
Additionally, it has come to light that the woman is connected to a Chinese political party and had access to many government buildings in New Delhi. With this information, the authorities are attempting to determine why the woman has spent the past two years in Delhi.
Additionally, attempts are being made to learn more about the Indian contacts she made.
The woman’s mobile phone contained a lengthy list of Indian phone numbers. The authorities are attempting to learn who spoke with the accused woman and where they are employed by using these numbers to identify who they are.
