Gujarat Woman consumes acid
Gujarat; Here is another piece of news that will not at all shock you. Here is news of a pregnant woman who consumed acid to commit suicide because of regular beating and harassment by her husband. Isn’t it quite regular for us? I mean we are a country with such low divorce rates but such high domestic violence. Imagine staying with the same person who has been harassing you for so long! Toxic is the only word that comes after this. Also, to remind you in India, marital rape is no rape! Instances of domestic abuse are quite popular in India. This post-lockdown saw a stark rise in domestic cases. This case in Gujarat’s Rajkot is no different from the other, it is just an addition to the list of gruesome cases of violence against women in India.
After alleged attack by her husband
This incident is reported from Bihari village of Rajkot in Gujarat. The incident took place on Sunday. The 30-year-old woman named Jive Solanki was expecting twins. The couple was already blessed with a boy who is 3 years old now. On Sunday, she took the extreme step that cost her life. She consumed acid after being beaten up by her husband.
Her brother filed a complaint against her husband named Vasant in Kadavu Police station. According to Vasant, the couple fought over financial matters and she consumed acid.
The police have taken up an investigation on this matter and will do their job accordingly but the question remains the same, why does a man think it to be his right to raise his hands on his wife.
