Chelsea vs southampton penalty shootout to the Carabao Cup fifth round after coming out on top of a gruelling yet stunning victory against Southampton on Tuesday night.
Although Chelsea beat Southampton in a penalty shootout at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night to earn their place in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals.
In the 44th minute, Kai Havertz headed a Hakim Ziyech corner past Fraser Forster to put Chelsea ahead.
Southampton, on the other hand, exploded out of the blocks after the break and were level within three minutes. Che Adams was there to tap into an empty net after Kepa Arrizabalaga spilt the shot.
Chelsea came out on top in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup, which was held at Stamford Bridge, after defeating Southampton. In regular time, the game concluded in a 1-1 tie.
Kai Havertz put Chelsea ahead just before halftime by scoring at the opportune time. Che Adams, on the other hand, put up a valiant effort in the second half to equalise for the visitors, but the game eventually went to a penalty shootout. The game went to extra time, but it was the Blues who won it thanks to Reece James’ heroics for Thomas Tuchel’s team.
Reece James sealed the deal as he scored the deciding goal from the spot in the shootout to help; Chelsea advance to the fifth round.
Chelsea took the lead in their last-16 tie just before halftime thanks to Kai Havertz. But Southampton equalised shortly after the restart thanks to Che Adams, forcing the game into a penalty shootout.
And in the end, Thomas Tuchel’s team triumphed – much like; they did in the previous round against Aston Villa – thanks to Reece James’ winning goal. As they progress to the final eight; with the draw taking place from 10.30 am on Saturday.
The team has now successfully advanced to the Carabao Cup quarter-finals; which will be held in the coming month of December 2021
